Dog Training & Behaviour Specialists

Whether it’s for basic manners or more complex behavioural issues, we focus on not only training your pet, but teaching owners how to effectively communicate with them.

We are based in Felbridge, East Grinstead, West Sussex.

Training is carried out at our facility at The Doghouse, or on occasion, at home with you.  If training includes help with reactivity or socialisation, venues might also include a busy High Street or popular dog walking fields!

OUR SERVICES

Communication Without Conflict

PRIVATE TRAINING

There is no "one size fits all" in dog training.  Each dog is an individual.  They learn differently, react differently and deal with situations differently.  It therefore makes sense that they should all be trained differently.  One to one sessions allow for consistency and progression. Whether using force free or balanced methods, the aim is to ensure the communication with your dog is concise, correct and conflict free. The key to successful learning is following the necessary sequential steps.

GROUP TRAINING

The fundamentals of group sessions focus on control and neutrality toward the environment.  With the unique ability to manage the environments and triggers, we are able to help both dogs and owners improve not only their relationship, but their confidence.  Putting what is learnt into practise, we also host controlled group walks which have been meticulously planned to benefit both owner and their dog.

SPORT TRAINING

For owners wanting to do more with their dogs, it is possible to take training up a level, and look into the world of dog sports.  Based on the sport of Working Trials, we provide introductory sessions in nosework, obedience and agility.  Dependent on breed and handler ability, we can also offer introductions into structured sports manwork, and in certain cases, may utilise it as a formulated genetic fulfilment exercise.  Our training does not "make dogs aggressive" and can be an incredible outlet for your dog.  We do not take on dogs to "have a go" at bitework.  Temperament and control play a critical role in the success of the discipline.  No control = no play!

BEHAVIOURAL ASSESSMENTS

Subject to an initial consultation and thorough vet check, we can address a multitude of issues including: fear aggression, noise phobias (including fireworks), attention seeking behaviours, undesired self rewarding behaviours, chewing, nipping and/or biting.  Consultations are supported with full, bespoke and structured training. Additional telephone, email and one to one support is also available.

What They Say About Us

Rachel Whitby Dog Training Customer

Ross is so knowledgeable, his experience really shines through  - he really understands Rottweilers as a breed. The most important thing I learnt was that the relationship with the dog is everything.  Ross taught me that training is ongoing and there are no quick fixes. I needed to be more consistent to enable Denzil to clearly understand me.

I went to Ross last year with an 8 year old Collie cross who was extremely sound sensitive especially to gunfire. As we live near to a farm, we are often subjected to shooting especially in the winter months. My dog would be a quivering wreck unable to obey any commands. (He has been obedience trained to competition level). Ross suggested a regime of getting him used to small sounds like a cap gun. Initially my dog was a complete wreck, but after several months of training and habituation he is no longer gun shy. Todays shotgun was fired several times about 100 yards away and he wasn’t in the least bit bothered. It has only been with the attentiveness shown by Ross that we have succeeded. My dog is living proof that with patience, understanding and perseverance that you can teach an old dog new tricks. I would thoroughly recommend Ross for all your training be it in obedience or phobias.

I just wanted to say a BIG thank you to Ross for his time when i visited him with my dog Poppi. He had her eating out of his hand (literally).  I was awe struck by his professionalism and knowledge and his dog Sasha is amazing.  Ross filled me with confidence knowing that I have found the right trainer to help me help Poppi. I was also very proud of Poppi I thought she did really well and was shattered when we got home. I would highly recommend Protrak K9.

Ross has been absolutely brilliant with our Cane Corso cross. She is a sensitive girl and he understood her right from the off. His training takes into account all the factors that influence dog behaviour & has helped me set boundaries with Scout that have shaped her into the wonderful family dog she is today. We have had both 1:1 and group sessions and always come away with a sense of achievement and lots to practice at home. I really can't recommend him & the whole team highly enough!
